So what if it’s a month after I took these photos? It’s still a pretty typical Day In The Life.

It’s too early. Tom is about to leave for work, which means I have to get up and take care of the children. Tom has already fed them all, thank god.

Coffee is had by all (over 4’11″)

Becky and Lily get in their morning cuddles.

Such a good dad. Becky needed her morning diaper change but I needed more coffee before I could attempt it. Tom’s ride was outside while he changed a diaper on the floor.

Ella waves to Tom and his carpool friends as they drive away. It’s a “thing” in our house, this waving at the front window.

MORE COFFEE.

Ella and Becky work on a masterpiece (with the “best scribbles ever”).

Alice has a jumperball that she uses as her primary transportation around the house. She is always a blur.

DITL 10/19/11

Ella, Becky and I take a shower, and then they play laundry train and “cave” while I get dressed and clean.

Becky nurses, and I read.

She is so flipping cute. I love her so.

Back upstairs, and Becky promptly dumps out the dog’s bowl. Nice.

DITL 10/19/11

Early lunch, since today is a “school day” and I have to have Ella there by 12:15.

DITL 10/19/11

Becky falls asleep at lunch, and I finish getting her ready while she snoozes.

DITL 10/19/11

The dog is thankful we are leaving and she can have some peace and quiet I think.

DITL 10/19/11

MORE COFFEE.

School time. The little girls wander the family room for an hour and a half while I attempt to crochet a rectangle. They are only on the computers for a minute, but ask 9236736 more times if they can do “puter school”.

We come home, and as I am trying to unload the car/get coats put away/let the dog out, Becky finds the powdered garlic and dumps it all over the kitchen. Great.

DITL 10/19/11

I get her as cleaned up as I can (though she still smells like Italian food), and push her outside with her sisters. (Oh god, that weather looks SO lovely right now, with snow and ice everywhere.)

DITL 10/19/11

Tom is home at 5ish, and the kids are thrilled to see him, after a day with mean ol’ mom.

DITL 10/19/11

COFFEE.

DITL 10/19/11

TV dinner, which I feel like happens a lot in DITL’s, but honestly only happens once every few weeks. We watch Microcosmos, again.

DITL 10/19/11

Oh Becks. Really?

Everyone is finally ready for bed, so I hand them off off to Tom and cackle as I walk away. He has this elaborate bedtime routine thing that he does with them, which is sweet because it is their time to reconnect after a day apart, but drives me crazy when I have to try to recreate it when he is not here. Stories, and then a song, then a game(?) then another story, and a song, and a roundrobin story, and and and. I hide in our bedroom, considering the baskets of clean laundry which i am not going to fold tonight.

DITL 10/19/11

Ahhhh silence.

DITL 10/19/11

Tom is already upstairs cleaning the kitchen. Have I mentioned lately that I love this man?

DITL 10/19/11

I do not feel like going for a run with the dog, so I take her to the backyard and throw her ball 296723636 times.

Then I come in and copy down poems into my little paper journal, watch a episode of xfiles with Tom, and pass out while reading.

END!

aww i <3 pirate pajamas and I hope they stay together long enough for even the great grand children to wear.

Hands down my favorite is the “blind gypsies” pic. I can’t get over how grown up Ella looks in the first picture. Aw, it is so bittersweet.
