Because we don’t have anything else going on lately, we decided to buy more chickens. Logically.
Two Rhode Island Reds (who hopefully are not as obnoxious as your last RIR’s), 5 Golden Stars, and one Black Star. Nothing fancy this year, just what they had at the feed store when we stopped in. Our other birds are still doing fine, but since the average laying time is about 3-4 years for the breeds we have, we knew we needed to raise up this cohort to replace the other birds next year.
Plus, what can I say, I am a sucker for small cute things.
